This was also a concept from the MIT Media lab for their touring opera Death and the Powers. These units were modeled after a historic Greek theater set piece called a “Periaktoi”. A periaktoi is a triangular set piece that has different scenes on each side of the triangle, the triangle is then rotated to change scenes. In the projects case, these were 15′ tall and controlled by an automation system that I designed and was controlled by an automation that MIT designed. I engineered these to be built with aluminum tube frames, a drive system that I custom designed with custom built friction drives, and the lighting on each triangle face was was done with individually controlled LED tubes. Again, one of favorites. Built by Mystic Scenic Studios.
